Based on the Springfield Armory Professional 1911 chosen by the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team, the TRP family of pistols was created to deliver a premium, hard-use 1911 platform. And now, the line has been refreshed to offer six new .45 ACP models with a wide range of impressive new features.

The TRP offers fully featured platforms specifically designed and built for demanding 1911 enthusiasts. Drawing inspiration from the Springfield Armory Professional 1911, TRP pistols undergo meticulous hand fitting for both form and function. And with these six new models, shooters have a modern take on a proven classic.

The art of building a TRP demands a hands-on approach. Each pistol begins with a forged frame and slide for strength and durability. For enhanced precision, each pair is hand-selected for slide-to-frame fit and numbered to marry them with their matching components throughout the build process. The result is a premium fit, with refined blending and rock-solid performance.

Providing an additional touch of custom detail, all TRP pistols feature finely cut sighting plane serrations along the top of the slide. The result is not only attractive and expertly executed, but offers the shooter an enhanced sight picture and maximum light diffusion. For precision even in the worst lighting conditions, all six TRP pistols are outfitted with a tritium three-dot sight system.

A legendary firearm deserves a superior grip. For this, Springfield Armory tapped VZ Grips and their combat-ready Hydra series for the new TRP pistols. The deep relief channels provide aggressive purchase without being overly sharp, while exposing the layers and patterns of the G-10 material. In addition, all TRP pistols feature 20 lines per inch (LPI) checkering on the frame for an enhanced grip with either wet or gloved hands.

The six .45 ACP models are made up of two Classic models, two Rail models and two Carry Contour models. The Classic pistols are offered in 5- and 4.25-inch versions, with both featuring all-steel construction as well as two-piece magwells. The Rail models are both 5-inch all-steel guns with two-piece magwells and a Picatinny rail on the dustcover. They are offered in Black or Coyote Brown finishes. The final two Carry Contour (CC models) feature 4.25-inch barrels along with a bobbed, lightweight aluminum frame for ease of concealment. These two variants, which do not feature extended magwells, are also offered in Black or Coyote Brown.

“The TRP has long been one of the most respected 1911 pistols not only in the Springfield line but also in the broader 1911 community,” said Vice President of Marketing Steve Kramer. “With these new TRP variants, Springfield Armory is taking a proven classic into the 21st century.”

Whether you seek classic simplicity, light-bearing versatility, or, for the first time within the TRP family a 4.25-inch model with the Carry Contour cut, each Tactical Response Pistol is built to the same exacting standards with a keen focus on premium quality and reliability.
