FN 509 Tactical Wins 2018 NASGW-POMA Caliber Award for Handgun of the Year

FN 509 Tactical Wins 2018 NASGW-POMA Caliber Award for Handgun of the Year
Tom Scott, marketing director for FN America, LLC, accepts the 2018 NASGW-POMA Caliber Award for Handgun of the Year for the newly-released FN 509 Tactical.

FN America, LLC is pleased to announce that the FN 509 Tactical, released in July, has won the 2018 NASGW-POMA Caliber Award for Handgun of Year. The FN 509 Tactical is a 9mm striker-fired pistol that is inspired by FN’s submission to the U.S. Army’s MHS program. It features the company’s patent-pending FN Low-Profile Optics Mounting System, capable of accepting more than ten miniature red dot optics, threaded barrel and 24-round magazines.

“We are excited to announce this award for the FN 509 Tactical, an exciting new addition to our product line-up that has raised the bar for the tactical pistol category,” said Mark Cherpes, President and CEO for FN America, LLC. “We also extend our congratulations to our fellow winners and nominees on their excellent product releases this past year. Let’s keep moving the industry forward in 2019.”

The National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW), in partnership with the Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA), chose the top products in six categories including Handgun of the Year, for Caliber Awards. Based on the results of an independent panel of 18 industry judges, FN was selected as the winner in the Handgun of the Year category.

To qualify, manufacturers needed to be a NASGW member in good standing, the product must have been publicly released between the end of last year’s NASGW Expo and the beginning of this year’s Expo, and submission of the products was required through the NASGW Expo New Product Showcase.
