Running Dry

Running Dry

Knowledgeable handgunners understand the power of dry-firing. The reps you can get in the comfort of your own home are as good as, and in some cases better than, what you can achieve on the range. It's also a hell of a lot cheaper.

Unlike the firm's older, larger unit, the new Laser Trainer Pro from LaserLyte fits almost flush with the muzzle so it can be used in conjunction with holster training. When you dry-fire your unloaded and cleared pistol, the trainer emits an easily visible laser pulse via a sound-activated switch--allowing you to see exactly where the muzzle was pointing when the gun "fired."

The LT-Pro fits popular semiauto calibers and requires at least a two-inch barrel. I've been using one in a CZ 75, FNP-9 and a Para USA 1911, and the laser has coincided nearly perfectly with the sights on all of them. $100.
