To say SIG Sauer is at the forefront of firearms manufacturing technology is an understatement. Not only is this forward-thinking company making a staggering number of firearms for military, law enforcement and private citizens, but it’s also developed a line of optics, lights and ammunition. SIG Sauer’s most recent innovation is its SIG Connect app, which pairs to your smart device to provide an on-demand training experience that’s as entertaining as it is educational .
The SIG Connect app is available at the App Store and Google Play. The free app grants you limited access to instructional videos from SIG Sauer Academy instructors and professional shooters, podcasts, SIG films and the Rose program. Not bad for free, but when you upgrade to a premium membership—$10 per month, after a free one-month trial—things really get interesting.
With your paid subscription, you can print targets at home on regular 8½x11 paper and take them to the range, along with a basic tripod for your phone. Point your phone camera and lock onto the target. Then, select Shooter Ready to begin. Hits are detected optically, and the app calculates group size and hit factor (points divided by time) in real time. Results are displayed on your screen so you don’t have to walk downrange to check your target.
You can even create your own training drill by selecting the number of rounds fired using a random or three-second start delay. But wait, there’s more. A series of progressively more advanced instructional videos and drills presented by SIG Sauer Academy instructors is bound to improve your pistol (and rifle) skills.

Training with a Purpose (Info provided by the author) This is a great way to ensure you’re training with purpose. This feature alone is worth $10 a month, but videos from world champion SIG shooters Daniel Horner and Max Michel sweeten the pot.
World champion SIG shooter Lena Miculek has several videos on the app promoting Rose, a collaborative firearms education program between her and SIG Sauer created to encourage women to take responsibility for their personal safety. For more on the Rose program, see our article that appeared in this space in the December 2023/January 2024 issue.
The SIG Connect app is user-friendly. It’s a great way to spice up your range sessions, while making you a better shooter. You can track your progress, share results, compete with other SIG Connect community members and even earn badges. Then, there’s exclusive entertaining and educational content.
