Kimber 1911 Covert Family

by G&A Staff   |  August 25th, 2011 18

The Kimber 1911 Covert series is without a doubt the most interesting looking family in the Kimber handgun line. The covert family features pistols designed as a personal defense tool for 24-hour use for the ordinary citizen.

Each member of the family comes fully equipped with a Crimson Trace laser grip and a tactical wedge night sight with green illumination. The grips feature digital camo, the Kimber logo and 30 LPI checkering on the front strap.

See all the members of this unique Kimber 1911 family up-close and personal.

    What a useless ad….

  • Quick Draw

What's the price range? Would be nice to see a smaller version in

9mm! Not everyone can handle or get used to the recoil of the 45.

    • Frank

I agree. With modern JHP +P 9 mm, there is no need to carry the heavier 45 ACP for self defense. And 9 mm is a lot cheaper to shoot and practice with.

There not much to handle. It not like firing a 44magnum. The 1911 is the easiest of any handgun to fire. And I'm more than sure that Kimber has this firearm chambered for the 9mm. I personally perfer the 45ACP. As far as the price range, I'm not too sure. The Covert isn't on my to ge list. I own two Kimbers, The Eclipse and the discontinued SIS. Both chambered in 45ACP. And a Wilson Combat Protector chambered once again in 45ACP. I'm more of a fan of the 1911 due to the fact that it was the very first handgun that I fired as a United States Marine. I've sold just about every handgun that I owned to pocure a Kimber Tactical Entry. 4 Sig Sauers, a Glock, Heckler & Koch, and a Beretta. Yeah, It's that serious. I'm all about 1911 45ACP.

      • Vic

Nope, just good 'ol .45 ACP!

        • Tim

kimber 1911 kick less than other brands 1911s. and why not have the extra fire power if the self defense situation? im not gonna chance it

    • Hope

Don't be a little girl. I weigh 107 and can handle a 45 just fine. Grow a pair!!

Hope, you would do well to remember that there are many people interested in shooting that have different physical limitations due to age or injuries. Recoil can be subjective to the individual but there is no glory in being a condensending person. Remember, no one likes a Smart A$$.

Click under Tweet above and see the specs and prices.

    $1600 or so.

  • Randall

The same bullet technology that improved the 9mm has been applied to the larger calibers. To each his own.

  • Hibby

I own the Ultra-Covert 3" and absolutely love it. It was pricey, just under $1300 out the door. It handles extremely well, and is exceptionally accurate. Ironically, it's my wife's favorite gun and she is only about 5'4" and 130 lbs. (she says 125 lbs.). She owns a S&W M&P 9mm that she uses for IDPA, and still prefers the .45ACP Kimber, but I'm usually carrying it.

  • Richard

I carry A 9mm Astra A70, and feel well protected

sorry to burst your bubble, but no 1911 is worth more

    than $300

  • Asterix

    How much is this handgun?

  • BroncoBob

I'm A firm beilever in both Kimber And the 45 acp.I have six Kimbers, and I'm in the process of buying my seventh. the 45 acp speaks for itself,I would say ask the bad guys that have been shot with one, but I would be willing to say you won't hear this just another model of the same thing,As if Rolls Royce came out with A new model, would it be any less A Rolls Royce.

  • Jack

I am glad you feel well protected with your Astra 9mm.
I dont think you are, but that doesnt matter.

  • Astra

Astra…isn't that a chevy mini van? Astra Zeneca? Astra physics? Pain in my Astra? WTF is an Astra? Same quality as the POS Kel-Tecs?

  • Don

My bride weighs in at 96 lbs and she handles my Kimber Crimson Pro Carry II 45 ACP with frightening accuracy. Nice gouping Honey. This gun has a very comfortable recoil.
