Keith Sanderson of San Antonio, Texas, captured the gold medal in 25-meter rapid-fire pistol at a world cup competition in Beijing, China. Sanderson, a 2008 Olympian, fired a 584 out of 600 points in the qualification round to enter the final round in first place. He held onto his lead by firing a 196.5 out of 200 in the final.
At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Sanderson also led the field going into the final round but had a rough time in the final and finished out of the medals. That was certainly on his mind upon his return to Beijing. “I had memories of the Olympic Games going through my mind,” he said after the world cup. “I have been replaying the Olympic final and these targets so many times after the Games that I still remember them.”
