SIG Sauer P320 Goes Subcompact

SIG Sauer P320 Goes Subcompact

SIG Sauer is expanding on its P320 line of pistols with the introduction of a .45-caliber version, a subcompact model and two new finish options for existing models.

"With the modular design of the P320, there is no end to the variation of models," said Jeff Creamer, "So, for 2015 we've added to the large end, with the addition of models chambered in .45 Auto. We've also added to the small end, with new subcompact offerings."

The new P320 Compact in .45 ACP takes all the features of the popular P320 pistol and pairs them with the more powerful round. It incorporates the same modular fire control group as the rest of the P320 family and holds nine rounds of .45 ACP. Because it comes with the same user-selectable grip module sizes as the original P320, owners can ensure that all their P320 pistols have the same grip diameter and trigger pull if they want to switch from one model to another.

The new P320 Subcompact chambered for 9mm takes the same modular fire control group and places it in a smaller package. The subcompact pistol measures 6.67 inches in length, 1.06 inches in width and 4.67 inches in height and has an overall weight of 24.9 ounces with a magazine, making it well suited for concealed carry. The P320 Subcompact features the same one-piece stainless steel frame, and the fire control can still be converted to accept different size grip modules by removing the takedown pin. The new subcompact model holds 12 rounds in its standard magazine but also accepts 15-round and 17-round magazines.

As with all P320 pistols, the new models feature a striker trigger with a pull of between 5.5-6.5 pounds that has a short, tactile reset, and SIG's SIGLITE night sights come standard on most models.

The P320 is now also available in two new finish choices: Flat Dark Earth (FDE) and Two-Tone FDE. The FDE option is finished in a PVD flat dark earth finish with a matching polymer grip module, while the Two-Tone FDE features the FDE frame paired with a Nitron top.
