Best New Carry Guns for 2014

by Handguns Online Staff   |  January 15th, 2014 4

With the expansion of right-to-carry laws across the country, gun owners are focusing on smaller, lighter pistols for personal protection.

A whole collection of new carry guns were released at the 2014 SHOT Show, with exciting offerings from several major brands. This year, .380 ACP pistols such as the Glock 42 and S&W Bodyguard were introduced, while the Springfield Armory XD-S 4.0″ and Remington R51 made their debut to 9mm fans.

A couple of new revolvers chambered for .38 Special also stood out as prime candidates for concealed carry.

Three of the pistols are not designed for concealed carry. Most of the others are just new names of old pistols and revolvers. Nothing new or exciting here, just more hype.

      Agree. Need phasers.

The new R51 is actually pretty cool. Redesigned from the ground up. Not at all an “old pistol with a new name”

Pleased with my Ruger LCR 357 magnum and 22 Long Rifle . Both fit fine in my front pocket . I was thinning about a 380 auto but to have the horsepower of 5 rounds of 357 magnum is a little hard to beat . You can always carry a speed loader if you think 5 rounds is not enough . I have semi auto’s too but this thing slips in my pocket so easily . Kicks a bit but you can also carry 38 specials in it if you want less recoil . To save money on ammo I got the 22 Long rifle too !
