FL Senior Citizen Thwarts Robbery With .380 Semi-Auto

For any naysayer that’s still on the fence about concealed carry…have them check out this amazing surveillance video from the Palms Internet Cafe in Marion County, Florida.

The video shows two men, one armed with a handgun and the other with a bat, entering the cafe demanding valuables from the patrons. One of the thugs even smashes a computer screen with a bat to emphasize their intentions.

That’s when 71-year-old Samuel Williams, who was there with his wife, had seen enough. The video clearly shows Williams rising from his seat, drawing a .380 semi-auto, and opening fire on the robbers who were completely caught off guard.

Both would-be robbers fled the scene, but were later found at a near-by hospital, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police report Williams will not be charged with anything, while both of the robbers are looking at hard time, though that might be preferred than another moment with Samuel Williams and his .380 semi-auto.

    HeII yes! you go gramps!

  • laserwolf

Gramps did a great job! But should have been a head shot, they will be back on the street in no time. More every day folk need to arm up and take notice!

  • Wolvie

Once again, youth and exuberance are no match for old-age, experience and treachery.

Anybody know what brand of 380 ammo? Apparantly not very effective.

    • John Hicks

How was it not effective? Did the robbery not stop? The objective is to stop an attacker, not kill them. The round (caliber), ammunition (brand), and make/model of gun were VERY effective.

      • Randy G.

How was it not effective? John, if I'm going after somebody that is armed with a gun and I have to shoot him, I want him to go down HARD!! It worked out this time but next time several bystanders could easily be injured or killed because the gentleman did not have an effective weapon.

        • John Hicks

          Randy,
Your expectations of handgun ammunition are beyond the laws of physics. It would be nice if a handgun had that kind of ability, but, they don't. We need to be aware of what our guns are capable of so that we are not shocked or surprised when a single shot doesn't stop an attacker in his tracks or force them down, as you would like, "HARD." And, if I may say so again, this robbery was stopped and the only people injured were the ones committing the crime. Therefore, the gun, ammo, and caliber were effective.

Did a research and came up with for the 380.

Chalk one up for the good guys!

  • Ron meyers

He did a great job, but need s better ammo….Got to put those ZOMBIES down…..

    • Rollie

He was still shooting at them as they were running away. At that point his (or nobody else's) lives were in danger. Plus, he was putting innocent bystanders at risk. How can that be justifibale use of deadly force/self defense?

      • Bob

Was wondering about that myself. As soon as the critters retreated, he should have stopped shooting.

  • Danny

i agree with bob and rollie he should of stoped firing. they werent a threat anymore.

  • Gary

THE Question was what brand of .380 and type did he use? I would like to know.

  • Gary

Stick to the question and don't go chasing rabbits

  • Old Gray One

He couldnot know if they might stop and shot back.He did what was right. KEEP SHOOTING till the bad guys are no longer a danger to you are anyone else near you. He did a dam GOOD Job

  • Bill Heiker

I love watching the scum bags running for their lives.
